The producers, Julie Plec & Brett Matthews, along with the cast of the Legacies attended the NYCC.
Some lucky fans had the chance to screen the very first episode of the new show. The comments were overhelming as the pilot is quite nostalgic, funny & supernatural.
After that, a panel took place and more details revealed as fans wanted to know more about the upcoming show.
Here is what we have learnt :
- Legacies is what Julie Plec hoped The Vampire Diaries would be. "It's a world that keeps giving back creatively," Plec said. "This show is what The Vampire Diaries was before it became TVD. Everything I always thought TVD would be, I was able to circle back and bring to here."
- You're going to see Jeremy Gilbert again. Jeremy has kept busy as a hunter and something brings him back to Mystic Falls this season. "He's out in the field. He'll pop up in a couple of episodes," revealed Plec.
- Matt Donovan is still not a big fan of supernatural creatures. Although Sheriff Donovan works alongside Alaric, he won't be afraid to put his foot down if bodies start to drop, which may lead to them being on opposing sides. "It puts him and Alaric in a good place for some tension," Plec teased.

- Alaric Saltzman will take his headmaster duties seriously. "He's taking on a new set of responsibilities. He's genuinely is coming as a place of love," said Matt Davis. "He's somewhere between Professor X and Dumbledore."
- You're going to see more of Mystic Falls. According to Plec, the first few episode "play into what's going on with the school and the town of Mystical falls." The local high school kids are not fond of the stud private school for troubled rich kids which creates a rivalry between both schools.
- Don't expect another love triangle. Alaric's daughters Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) and Josie (Kaylee Bryant) will crush on the same guy but that doesn't mean they'll compete for his love. "It's less of a love triangle and more of a decision of whether or not [Josie] wants to pursue it. It's a co-dependent plight more than anything else," said Plec.
- Legacies employs more humor than The Vampire Diaries. The monster-of-the-week format isn't the only change for Legacies. The show will have more fun with its young, supernatural characters. "We wanted to embrace our inner Buffy and have a good time," Plec explained.
