Watch : Michael Malarkey - Captain Solitaire

Michael Malarkey revealed the accompanying video on which he shared the following on its making:
“i had a week in atlanta between wrapping project blue book and heading to london for tour rehearsals, my team said they needed a video of some sort if i could swing it, but i didn’t think i had the time. they said to even just get an iphone in a room and record some shit and we could use that. then i remembered i had booked out this venue, le maison rouge, in the back of paris on ponce in atlanta in 2015 for an earlier video that didn’t end up happening. nadine chased up the booking and we decided to scramble a team together and do an actual video. i called up my good buddy geoff shotz and initially just asked if he could turn up with a camera and shoot some random things in a couple different outfits that we could use. the track was captain solitaire so i felt like i could get away with the video being very simple. anyway, true to form, the ideas started snowballing the night before and i began forming a more concrete concept to go with the theme. we shot on the fuji xt-2 and since our team was small and the room very dark, we thought we would mess around with some film simulation – as well as some external effects with a prism, which was shotz’s brilliant idea – and make it appear almost dreamlike, which fit the vibe of the song. i took all of the footage with me on the plane to london and adam brown – who did the Mongrels and Uncomfortably Numb videos – was kind enough to sit and go through them with me and do the edit. It was truly a last minute, collaborative effort and we had a blast doing it. i dont like to talk about meanings and all that as i feel like it cheapens the viewers experience. hopefully the video speaks for itself.”
